Join Elements
Description
This tool prompts the user to select a source to join elements. The source must be a structural framing member. The tool then prompts the user to select multiple target elements to join to the source element. The target elements you wish to join must be of the Specialty Equipment or the Generic Model type. In addition, its family name must contain one of the values in the list of Join Elements settings in the BIMpak Settings window:
The default values are: ADDON, CORBEL, PILASTER, LDGE, LEDGE, CORNIC, SOLID_ZONE_RECTANGULAR, or SOLID_ZONE_TAPERED. If the previous conditions are not met, the given element will not be selectable by the user.
Once the selections are made, the target elements are joined to the source element, similar to the Join tool under the Modify tab within Revit. Joining the elements will ensure it is added to the source’s assembly when it is assembled, or immediately if it is already assembled. The material of the source element will also be set for all target elements. Completing this operation also ensures the target’s volume is accounted for when computing volumes for the title block when using Populate Sheet Properties.
