Modify Family Settings

The Modify Family Settings page of the BIMpak Settings is used to create Modify Family map files for the Modify Family tool. The Modify Family tool is used to add parameters to a selected family.

To create a Modify Family map file click the New button or the Copy button with a file selected in the list below. Then, parameters can be added and removed on the right side of the window. Each parameter is composed of five values:

  • Name - The name of the parameter.

  • Group - The group that it belongs to. These are defined by Revit and so the input is a drop-down box for the user to select the appropriate group.

  • Type - The type of parameter such as Text or Integer. These are defined by Revit and so the input is a drop-down box of allowed types.

  • Value - The value for the parameter that should be stored.

  • Formula - The formula for the parameter if it has one.

Note that the parameters will be written to the family in the order they are in on the Modify Family Settings window. So be sure to put the parameters in order such that if a defined parameter is used in the formula for another, then the parameter needed in the formula must be before the parameter that uses it.
