Floating network license’s store a license file (LicenseFile.lfx) in a shared folder on your companies network. This file is created upon first activation of the software. Users will require Read/Write/Modify permissions to the folder selected to store the license file in step 3.

The software SHOULD NOT be installed or activated within the server itself. Installation and initial activation should be done on a users machine to avoid issues with file paths.

Setup on additional workstations after initial setup

  1. Setup if a user has

    1. been running with an individual license

    2. Demo license

    3. or does not see the License Selection dialog box.

Setting up a floating network license for the first time

  1. Install the program on a computer connected to the network

  2. Run the program

  3. When you open the program for the first time, the following license selection dialog box will appear:

4. Select the 'Floating Network License' option.

5. Use the “…” to select which network location you would like the license file to be stored

  • Mapped folders can be found under the “This PC” drop down. When using the browse tool the path will automatically be converted to its UNC equivalent at activation. Users do not need to have the same mapped drive letters for this to succeed.

6. Click OK.

7. The following license activation dialog box will appear:

8. Enter the License ID and Activation Password of the floating network license. The installation name is optional - and primarily used for identifying single user activation. Select Next

9. Once the request is completed the LicenseFile.lfx will be created, and a sema000.net file representing the program is in use.

10. Selecting Finish will open the software

You can close the software and check the license folder to ensure the sema.net file is deleted, freeing up the seat on the license.

You have now successfully setup and tested the floating network license.


Setting up a floating network license once the license has already been activated on a different computer

  1. Install and run the program as before.

  2. Select the 'Floating Network License' option and use the “…” browse tool to select the network folder that holds the license(LicenseFile.lfx).

3. Select OK and no license activation dialog box should appear.

4. If there is an available seat, the program will open and setup is complete.


Setting up a floating network license if a user has been running with an individual license, demo license, or does not see the License Selection dialog box.

  1. Open Windows File Explorer.

  2. Navigate to the user folder Documents/Eriksson Software/Eriksson Culvert (or relevant software title)

3. Delete the file called "LicenseInfo.txt."

4. Run the program and the license selection dialog box will appear.

5. Setup the floating network license for the computer according to the relevant steps above.
