Transformed section properties may be used and are controlled by two user inputs. These two inputs control the transformed section property behavior for both stress computations and for deflection calculations. The options for transformed section properties are:

  1. None: No reinforcement is transformed. Only gross section properties are used.

  2. All: All reinforcement is transformed.

  3. Mild Only: Only mild reinforcement is transformed; strand will be ignored.

  4. Strand Only: Only prestressing reinforcement is transformed; mild will be ignored.

When transforming reinforcement, the true area of the reinforcement is used and does not take development into account. The above input will also be ignored for deflections if the section is cracked. When the section is cracked the cracking procedure used requires the transformation of all reinforcement in the section. Therefore, cracking at a given location will enable transformed section properties to its fullest.
