Dapped end analysis is done following PCI 5.5.3. Limitations on this methodology recommended are not checked and the engineer should verify the methodology is valid. When performing the calculations contained within section 5.5.3 the following assumptions are made:

  • Vu is reduced by the number of bearing points defined by the user. For instance, a Double T with two bearing points will reduce the Vu by 2 and results will be reported the requirement per bearing point.

  • The shear span (defined as ‘a’) assumed the load is located at the center of the dap.

  • The resistance factor is set internally to 0.75 and cannot be edited by the user.

  • The shear-friction coefficient, 𝜇, is set internally to 1.4 and cannot be edited by the user. Note that the software still computes the effective shear coefficient as defined in 5.5.3.2.

  • All reinforcement covers assumed to be 1 inch.

  • Plate assumed to be a ½ inch thick.

  • Only supports the following geometry types: T beams, spandrels, inverted Ts, rectangular sections, and I Beams.

  • No labels
