Horizontal shear parameters are computed automatically for every stage of the member. These results are shown in the analysis report under Horizontal Shear. The design of the horizontal shear connector is dependent on the hardware being used and for assistance in designing these the manufacturer should be contacted.

Input

The input for the horizontal shear options is found under the design criteria tab. The user has three different modes which can be used to define to horizontal shear regions:

  1. By Region: The member is split up into segments based on the zone length defined within the program. The program will add in a location from both the top and the bottom of the member in increments of the defined length until the entire panel is subdivided.

  2. Zero Shear Locations: The member is split up into regions between each zero shear point. Each of these regions are then subdivided into smaller regions based on the maximum zone length if one is defined by the user.

  3. User Defined: A single region is check which is defined by the user. For this region, the start location is measured from the bottom and the end location is measured from the top.

For each region horizontal shear is computed and tabulated.
