Getting Help

The online help system included in Eriksson Pipe provides a convenient means of obtaining assistance on the use of the program.  It also includes a technical reference, which explains the underlying engineering theory of the program.

You can access the help system in two ways.  First, you can access it directly by selecting Eriksson Pipe Help Contents from the Help menu or you can click the Help button from the toolbar.

Direct access of the help system is through a three-tab dialog box, as shown above.  Click the Contents tab to view the contents of the help system.  Click the plus sign to the left of any of the any of the book icons to expand the contents tree see the subtopics included under them.  Single-click any of the page icons (with question marks in them) to view the contents of that subtopic.

Clicking the Index tab will show an alphabetized list of the key words in the help system.  To search for a specific word or phrase, click the Search tab.

Context-Sensitive Help

You can also get context-sensitive help while you are creating a design.  To access context-sensitive help, press the F1 key on your keyboard while in a particular dialog box.  The help system will be launched and the relevant topic will be displayed.  This is a convenient way to quickly obtain details on each particular item of program input.  You can just view and close the window, or you can print the topic if you desire by clicking the Print button.

For example, if you press the F1 key while in the Pipe Properties dialog box, the help screen below will appear.

Descriptive text and figures are included in the help system to assist you in quickly understanding each input item.  To close the help system, click the “X” in the upper right-hand corner of the search window.
