This tab covers the Analysis Options for Eriksson Pile.

General Options

Option

Description

Effective Length Factor, k

Effective length factor for piles/columns.

EI Multiplier

Member stiffness multiplier.

Slenderness Method

Chooses which method will be used to calculate slenderness in the member. ACI uses LRFD 9th Ed. 5.6.4.3, where Secant uses the secant method as described in the ACI Journal, Arthur R. Anderson and Saad E. MOUSTAFA, “Ultimate Strength of Prestressed Concrete Piles and Columns”

Show Mild Slenderness

This options enables the slenderness method chosen to be overlaid on the Mild Interaction Diagram.

Seismic Detailing

Options that allow for a more accurate report on seismic detailing. If these options are omitted the worst case is assumed and reported.

This will not affect the pile analysis. These options are not required but will make the Spiral Summary more accurate.

Option

Description

Depth of Pile in Soil

The length of the pile that is under the surface of the soil. This is used in ACI seismic detailing.

Used in ACI 318-19 18.13.5.10.5

Distance to Zero Curvature

This is the distance of the pile to the first point of zero curvature. This is used in ACI seismic detailing.

Used in ACI 318-19 18.13.5.10.5

Part of Seismic Resisting System

Is the pile part of the seismic resisting system. Spiral provisions vary depending on whether the pile is part of the structure’s seismic-force-resisting system. This is used in PCI seismic detailing.

Resistance Factors

Option

Description

Shear, ϕshear

The resistance factor for shear.

Flexure, ϕFlex

The resistance factor for flexure.

Compression, ϕComp

The resistance factor for compression.

Service Stresses

These are multipliers that return service stress limits.

Compression Multipliers

Option

Description

Sustained

Compression multiplier for sustained loads limit.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by fc

Service

Compression multiplier for stripping and erection limits.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by fc

Transfer

Compression multiplier for transfer stress limit.

The allowable stress is found by multiplying the given multiplier by fci

Sustained + Transient

Compression multiplier for sustained + transient loads limit.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by fc

Tension Multipliers

These multipliers are based on psi values.

Option

Description

Sustained

Tension multiplier for sustained loads limit.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by √fc

Service

Tension multiplier for stripping and erection limits.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by √fc

Transfer

Tension multiplier for transfer stress limit.

The allowable stress is found by multiplying the given multiplier by √fci

Sustained + Transient

Tension multiplier for sustained + transient loads limit.

The allowable load is found by multiplying the given multiplier by √fc
