  • Vu is reduced by the number of bearing points defined by the user. For instance, a Double T with two bearing points will reduce the Vu by 2 and results will be reported as the requirement per bearing point.

  • The shear span (defined as ‘a’ in PCI) assumes the load is located at the center of the nib.

  • The resistance factor is set internally to 0.75 and cannot be edited by the user.

  • The shear-friction coefficient, 𝜇, is set internally to 1.4 and cannot be edited by the user. Note that the software still computes the effective shear coefficient as defined in PCI 5.5.3.2.

  • All reinforcement covers are assumed to be 1 inch.

  • The bearing plate is assumed to be a ½ inch thick.

  • Only the following geometry types are supported: T beams, spandrels, inverted Ts, rectangular sections, and I Beams.

If the member is a thin webbed member, Vc is reduced with 2H of the support. When Vc is reduced, a new Vs required is computed.
