Table of Contents

Section Geometry

In this block, you enter all information that sets the base pile geometry. Depending on which of the section types are selected, the input content will change. The inputs for this section are:

Header

Description

Pile Geometry

The cross sectional geometry of the pile. Three options are allowed to choose from. Square, octagonal, and circular can be selected.

Pile Size

The diameter of the pile. The diameter is taken to be the farthest left point to the farthest right point on the pile relative to the section cut drawing on the input panel as shown below

Image Added

Chamfer

Adds a chamfer to the corners of the pile.

Info

This option is only available if the pile uses a square cross section.

Void Properties

In this block, you enter all information that sets the void geometry. Depending on which of the section types are selected, the input content will change. The inputs for this section are:

Header

Description

Contains Void

Creates a void of desired size in the pile. If this option is selected an accompanying diameter will also need to be entered.

Void Diameter

Sets the center void diameter. If no diameter is set (i.e. Void Diameter is 0”) the pile is calculated as solid.

Info

This option is only available if the “Contains Void” option is checked.

Length Properties

In this block, you enter all information that sets the length of the pile. The inputs for this section are:

Header

Description

Total Pile Length

Total length of the pile.

Unsupported Length

This represents the unsupported length of the compression member. The unsupported length of a pile is equal to the length of pile above the ground surface plus the distance between the top of ground and the calculated point of fixity.

Info

For more information see PCI Eq. 20.5.6.6.2-1

Cut-Off Length

The portion of the pile that is removed after the pile has been driven into the ground and before the pile cap or other structural element is constructed.
