Before reinforcement is read from a design file and inserted into a part in the model existing reinforcement can be removed or left in place. Whether reinforcement should be removed or not can be set individually for rebar, mesh, strand , and stirrups.

Insertion Settings

...

When reinforcing parts in the model options can be set for which types of reinforcement to insert and how each should be placed. Each type of reinforcement (strand, rebar, mesh , and stirrups) has its own settings available on its own page.

...

There are three groups of settings that describe specifically how reinforcement is to be placed in the model. The settings help to account for differences between the concrete extents in the design file and the part in the model. If the concrete extents in the design file don’t exactly match those of the part in the model then the placement settings determine how to adjust for those differences. The settings are exactly the same for strand, mesh , and stirrups while rebar has an additional setting for rounding options.

...

The placement datum relates the starting position of the reinforcement from the design file to the part in the model. There is a separate placement datum for the width, thickness , and length.

Width

...

When placing reinforcement along the width of the part Sync can start by using the distance from the left, right, center or closest end in the design file.

Thickness

...

When placing reinforcement along the thickness of the part Sync can start by using the distance from the bottom, top, center or closest end in the design file.

Length

...

When placing reinforcement along the length of the part Sync can start by using the distance from the start, end, center or closest end in the design file.

Mirror Location

Each type of reinforcement can be mirrored about a specified centerline: width, thickness or length.

Rounding Options

Options for how to round calculated placement distances along the width, thickness and length can be set for all types of reinforcement. Sync will round calculated distances using the specified method to a set number of decimal places.

...

Rebar has an additional placement option for the length of the bars.

Each option has a selection for the method and an input for the precision to use. Precision is the number of places to the right of the decimal.

...

There are six methods for rounding:

  • None will do no rounding and use exact calculated values.

  • Round will use typical rules for rounding a value up or down.

  • Round down will always round down to the specified precision.

  • Round up will always round up to the specified precision.

  • Away from the nearest end
